First of Many

James Sorrell. ARCH1101.

Creative Piece of Work

Previous to this Architecture course my experienece in creative works is comparitively limited, outside of in-school technical drawing and the pencil sketches I produce at home I haven't taken any conventional arts specific courses.
Pictured is a sketch a produced whilst teaching myself to draw in two point perspective, I find this drawing strangely intriguing due partially to its sentimental value in combination with the bold contrast through the use of a sharpie marker.

Great Piece of Architecture

My first research assignment as a part of the Architectural Studies course (BENV1080) I found Steven Holl's 'Vanke Center' or 'Horizontal Skyscraper' to be an intriguing piece of modern architecture. LEED Platinum rated with a floor area of 120,445 square meters it has become a widely accredited and awarded architectural piece. The Raised nature of the building allows for a tropical garden on the lower level of the site with a multitude of facilities above.

An Original Photograph of Something Beautiful

Taken during a family cruise around the South Pacific, Our ship was forced to change course from Fiji to a rarely visited Island among the Vanuatu Islands named Wala. Our interactions with the locals and the almost untouched nature of the surrounding coral reefs and wildlife allowed for a less tourist cantered experience that served to expose us to a beautiful culture and part of the world.
